MRS (Outil Stand Alone, Mechanical Reliability Simulation)

MRS is a calculation program for the reliability of complex mechanical modules. It calculates the error rate, error propagation and the corresponding MTBF. The exactidude of the MTBF calculation is based on the reliability prediction handbook for NSWC98 mechanical systems. The manual developed by NSWC Carderock contains failure-density models for the elementary classes of mechanical components.

It allows to establish optimal maintenance strategies. Thus it is possible to consider the loss of the material, material fatigue, corrosion, cracking in the material and the weakening of material etc. MRS has a simple editor that allows you to quickly assemble simple mechanical modules and to define terms and conditions as the geometric dimensions, the materials and elements surface hardness by the parameters.



  • Analysis of reliability of mechanical components contains two tools: MRS-Numerical (MRS-N) and MRS-Analytical (MRS-A).
  • MRS-N contains interfaces to all current CAD/CAE systems such as: Pro/Engineer (Pro/Mechanical) and MSC.VisualNastran 4D that allows the export of the course of development model and Fenite simulation results elements that contain the time-dependent parameters concerning reliability.
  • MRS-A includes an extensive library of standard components and a simple mechanical publisher to enable the rapid assembly of any simple mechanical modules / arrangement.
  • The environmental conditions as the geometric dimensions, material and surface hardness dependencies can be defined by the user via the general parameters.
  • To provide a reliable analytical equation used according to methods of elementary errors: loss of material, material fatigue, corrosion, cracking in the material, weakening of the material etc.
  • The optimal type of the historical error frequency is automatically determined and the corresponding MTBF is calculated.
  • MRS includes specific requirements for automotive, medical, aeronautics, transport and defence.
